The boardwalk slides into the sea

Another day, another storm. As expected, the boardwalk at Newborough beach has collapsed and is sliding into the sea:(

Overnight, the beach has eroded back by about three metres, completely undermining the front legs of the platform. The legs have dropped down by about one metre to the new beach level.

Lets hope the ‘experts’ at NRW have learnt their lesson and won’t waste any more taxpayers money trying to transform Newborough into some kind of tacky beach resort… and just leave it as the natural, unspoilt and tranquil location that it once was.

The wood could be used as kindling for a “Bonfire of the Quangos” as Neill KIinnock had promised years ago. They have ruined our idyllic place of outstanding natural beauty with their comedy of errors in everything they do.

Exposed in the new cliff I found a dated crisp packet, 1984! The sand build up was only 40-ish years old, so losing it back to Father Neptune should not be a surprise, except that it seems to have to be a bit long to remember. The wise man built on a rock, as I recall.

Absolutely;) Watching the platform’s demise kept reminding me of primary school assemblies where we sang a song about the wise man building on the rock and the fool building on the sand… and the waves came up and the rains came down etc. Shows how deeply what we learn as infants settles in ourselves.
